The Galician Institute of High Energy Physics (IGFAE) of the University of Santiago de Compostela (USC), in collaboration with the European Physical Society, CERN (European Organization for Nuclear Research) and Fermilab (National Laboratory Fermi), organizes a Masterclass in Particle Physics next Thursday, March 11, for students in the last year of high school. Promoted by the “International Particle Physics Outreach Group” and called “Hands on Particle Physics”, the masterclass this year will be completely virtual due to the sanitary situation. It will consist of a series of lectures on current particle physics, in addition to a group practice. The results  will be discussed via videoconference with other European centers that simultaneously organize an identical activity in which more than 13,000 students from 52 countries participate each year.

Up to two students per center and one teacher may participate in this simulation of professional scientific activity. In order for them to take advantage of the experience to the fullest, it is important to love science and knowledge of English to carry out the videoconference. Registration will be done in order of application in this form (https://igfae.usc.es/masterclass/index.php/inscricions/), prioritizing centers that participate for the first time. In exceptional cases, such as centers with a high number of students, the assistance of extra students may be requested. The registration deadline is Sunday, February 28.
