The Instituto Galego de Física de Altas Enerxías (IGFAE), a joint center of the Universidade de Santiago de Compostela and the Xunta de Galicia, has launched two new dissemination channels to make its daily activity known to society. The center now has its own profile on the Bluesky social network and a channel on the instant messaging service “Whatsapp”.

The opening of these new channels follows the decisions taken in recent weeks by several institutions, and specifically the Universidade de Santiago de Compostela, to abandon the activity in the social network X, because of the drift experienced by the platform in recent months. Faced with this situation, and in search of alternatives, the USC has initiated the creation of content on Bluesky. In the same vein, at the Spanish level, many of the centers of excellence of the Severo Ochoa and María de Maeztu Alliance (SOMMa), to which IGFAE belongs, have also opted to open profiles on this network.

As for Whatsapp, the IGFAE has launched “IGFAE Today”, a channel in which it will offer information on the center’s activity and news, as well as content that reflects daily life inside a research center.

These actions are part of the center’s commitment to get closer to its immediate local and regional environment and, at the same time, to increase its international projection. On the occasion of the 25th anniversary of the Institute, which has been commemorated in this 2024, and the upcoming completion of the works of the new headquarters, the IGFAE intends to share with the public its scientific and informative work, opening the doors of its facilities to various events, guided tours, educational activities that reinforce the social commitment of the center.

In addition to the aforementioned channels, the IGFAE has active profiles on Instagram, LinkedIn and Youtube, where it accumulates about 5,000 followers.
