Visual Identity

The year 2024 is a time of transformations for the IGFAE. The opening of the new headquarters, which will be completed in a few months, along with the awarding of the María de Maeztu Unit of Excellence accreditation and the Xunta de Galicia’s network of research centers, marks the beginning of a new period that will consolidate the IGFAE at the forefront of science in its research fields.

The IGFAE is composed of a team that significantly exceeds one hundred people. Through their daily work, they have demonstrated and continue to demonstrate their ability to achieve the milestones that today position the center as a reference.

In the framework of this new stage, the IGFAE’s Direction and Management Unit has been working hand in hand with the design studio Novagarda since 2023 to renew the center’s visual identity. This new image will be comprehensively applied in both internal communications and actions open to society and will also be accompanied by a new website.

In the coming months, the new IGFAE visual identity manual will be presented, which will include all the materials and instructions necessary for the complete application of this new image.

However, to familiarize the Institute’s staff with this new identity, we are outlining here the requirements to be followed from July 1, 2024, in all communications and activities.

NOTE: Non-compliance with these instructions may cause serious inconveniences in the delivery of reports and justifying documents, resulting in an increased workload for the Administration Unit staff and the risk of penalties in the funding received by IGFAE and its research staff from funding entities.

In case of any doubt or query about these instructions, contact the Management and Communication Unit (communication@igfae.usc.es).

Main communication elements

IGFAE logo

The IGFAE Governing Board approved the new logo of the Institute at the beginning of 2024, one of the main elements of the visual identity to be implemented in the second half of this year.

This new logo should NOT include the logos of USC and the Xunta de Galicia jointly as before (the new arrangement of these two elements is indicated below in this text).

During the second half of 2024 and until further instructions from the Direction / Management Unit, the IGFAE logo should be used with the elements indicated below:

Hexadecimal Code #000023 | RGB: 0-0-35 | CMYK: 93 – 95 – 60 – 64 (%)

Main Typography: Roobert Pro

In all official documents, presentations, reports, and public communications, the Roobert Pro typographic family should be used with its different variants, as shown to the left of this text.

It can be downloaded from this link.

Universidade de Santiago de Compostela

As a joint center of the Universidade de Santiago de Compostela and the Xunta de Galicia, the IGFAE must make visible the presence of the USC in all its communications. In this new identity, the University’s logo will appear alongside the other funding entities’ logos in the same size and hierarchy.

Other Funding Programs

The above requirements do not exclude the need to comply with the pertinent instructions in the case of actions financed by other instances (collaborations with other research institutions, European Research Council, Oportunius program, etc.).

It is recommended, when possible, to send the materials to this Unit to verify their compliance with the communication and publicity instructions.

In which communication materials should I include these logos?

The quick answer: all of them.

Here are some examples where it is essential and mandatory to comply with these instructions:

  • Presentations at conferences (talks and posters), workshops, seminars, courses, etc.
  • Attendance certificates or reports
  • Communication or merchandising material (rollups, notebooks, bags, folders, etc.)
  • Websites: logos should be displayed in the ‘footer’ or the corresponding sponsors/funders section.

Scientific Publications

A paragraph mentioning the funding should be included in the resolutions and scientific publications that are co-financed.

Examples:

“Grant CEX2023-001318-M funded by MICIU/AEI /10.13039/501100011033.”

“This work has received financial support from the Xunta de Galicia (CIGUS Network of Research Centres) and the European Union.”
