Postdoctoral position at LHCB research programme

The LHCB research programme in the Instituto Galego de Física de Altas Enerxías (IGFAE) at the University of Santiago de Compostela (USC), seeks candidates for a post-doctoral Research Associate position to work on the LHCb experiment at CERN’s Large Hadron Collider.

The successful candidate will be expected to contribute to data analysis, with a focus on rare B decays, and will contribute to the successful operation of the LHCb detector. Involvement in the Upgrade 2 project with contributions to the VELO detector is also a possibility for interested candidates.

Candidates for the position must have a PhD or equivalent in experimental high-energy physics.

The ideal candidate will also have:

  • – Advanced programming skills with C++ or Python languages.
  • – Experience with data analysis in high energy physics.
  • – The capability for effective scientific communication

The position is available to start in Summer 2025. The initial appointment will be for one year, renewable for up to a total of two years. Further extensions are a possibility depending on the available funding. Renewal of the contract will be offered based on satisfactory performance. The primary place of work will be Santiago de Compostela, with travels to CERN and conference meetings as needed.
