RESEARCH LINES

Our group is interested in investigating the structure and the dynamics of the atomic nucleus and its implications in astrophysics. We make use of the unique opportunities offered by European facilities such us GSI, CERN or GANIL to produce and characterise the structure of nuclei far from stability, induce fission or fragmentation reactions to understand the dynamics of nuclear matter or investigate reactions involved in nucleosynthesis processes. Our main research programs are:

  • Structure of light nuclei close to the drip-lines using breakup or transfer reactions
  • Production and properties of heavy and medium-mass neutron-rich nuclei
  • Role of dynamical and structural effects in fission
  • Spallation and fragmentation reactions

We also contribute to the definition of the research program and experimental devices of the new Facility for Antiproton and Ion Research (FAIR). In particular, we are involved in the R3B experiment (Reactions with Relativistic heavy-ion Beams) contributing with the design and construction of the gamma calorimeter and a large area ToF wall for heavy ion identification. The design of active targets for FAIR and SPIRAL II is another field of interest for our group.
