Santiago de Compostela hosted the 29th European Cosmic Ray Symposium

The Hospedería de San Martiño Pinario at the old town of Santiago de Compostela hosted last week the 29th European Cosmic Ray Symposium (ECRS 2026). The event brought together about one hundred researchers to present the latest advances in cosmic‑ray and related fields, and also discuss newly emerging ideas and forthcoming experiments.

The symposium featured a rich and wide programme of plenary talks, parallel sessions, and poster presentations, covering topics such as solar and heliospheric cosmic rays, SEPs and GCR propagation, direct and indirect measurements of cosmic rays, acceleration, ropagation, origin of cosmic rays, air shower physics and hadronic interactions, gamma-rays, neutrinos, dark matter, future measurements, instrumentation and methods.

The Local Organising Committee was led by IGFAE researchers Jaime Álvarez-Muñiz and Enrique Zas, together with a team composed by Sergio Cabana, Lorenzo Cazón, Joaquín de Jesús, María Durán, Fernando Gollán, Yago Lema, Gonzalo Parente, Carmen Pavón, Carmina Pérez, Brais Rocha, Francisco Sánchez and Marina Scornavacche.
