Context
The IGFAE is undergoing a new stage, marked by several milestones (María de Maeztu accreditation and the CIGUS network, opening of the new headquarters) that also extend to the renewal of its visual identity. These instructions respond to the need to make the new identity visible, but also to comply with the communication and publicity requirements of the different funding institutions, a key aspect in the functioning of the center and, especially, in the work of the Management Unit.
-
Purpose, target audience, and justification
The purpose of these instructions is, in accordance with the general lines of the IGFAE Communication Plan for the period 2025-2030, to “consolidate the identity of the center and of the communication channels and processes,” at the internal level; and “to increase the level of awareness of IGFAE and its prestige, from the local environment to the international” at the external level. The target audience of these instructions are, on the one hand, all personnel assigned to IGFAE (scientific, technical, management), as well as those whose activity may occasionally be funded by IGFAE (e.g. seminars delivered at IGFAE by visiting researchers, charged to the center’s funds or to some projects of the center’s personnel). The justification of these instructions also extends to the administrative field, and to the communication and publicity requirements determined by the different funding institutions. Knowing and complying with these instructions facilitates the work of the Management Unit, the preparation of reports and supporting documentation.
NOTA BENE: Failure to comply with these instructions may cause serious inconveniences in supporting reports and corresponding audits, with the consequent work overload for Management staff and the possible penalty in the funds received by IGFAE and its research personnel from the funding entities. -
IGFAE visual identity system
(for more details, download here the IGFAE visual identity guide)The visual system is composed of three elements:
Forms 1 (acronym) and 2 (denominator) function interchangeably as the main element of the Institute’s identity.
Form 3 (symbol) must always appear accompanied by one of the other two forms, to allow proper identification of the Institute.
Interaction: in this case, it is important that the coexisting forms have the same height and maintain a distance of at least the length of the longest element (see examples).
Colours
The IGFAE visual identity incorporates a color palette that will be used preferentially in presentations (text, backgrounds, graphics, and other elements), as well as mandatory use, except in duly justified exceptions, in the representation of the logo:
MAIN PALETTE
COMPLEMENTARY PALETTE
Main typeface: Roobert Pro
In all official documents, presentations, reports, and public communications, the Roobert Pro typeface family must be used. Download at this link.

Logos of institutions linked to IGFAE
Universidade de Santiago de Compostela
As a joint center of the Universidade de Santiago de Compostela and the Xunta de Galicia, and given the link of IGFAE staff to the university, the Institute’s team must make USC visible in their communications.
María de Maeztu Accreditation + MICIU + AEI
The accreditation of IGFAE as a María de Maeztu Unit of Excellence is granted by the State Research Agency (AEI) of the Ministry of Science, Innovation and Universities (MICIU) of the Government of Spain. Together with the CIGUS network, it represents an important structural funding contribution for the center, in addition to a seal of prestige for the Institute, which requires strict compliance with the communication and publicity instructions.
In relation to this, in all cases, the following must be included:
– Corresponding logo of the Ministry of Science, Innovation and Universities, and the State Research Agency
– Seal of the María de Maeztu excellence accreditation
– Legend with the reference of the current grantAxuda/Ayuda/ Grant CEX2023-001318-M financiada por MICIU/AEI /10.13039/501100011033
CIGUS accreditation of the Xunta de Galicia
IGFAE is one of the 10 centers recognized by the CIGUS network of the Xunta de Galicia, which certifies the quality and impact of its research. In accordance with publicity requirements, IGFAE staff must include in all information and communication actions, in this order, the CIGUS network logo and the mention of the EU and European Funds, which finance this network. It is not necessary to include the Xunta de Galicia logo; the shield associated with the CIGUS brand is enough.
Other funding programs
In the case of actions funded by other institutions (collaborations with other centers, research projects funded by the State Research Agency, Horizon Europe / ERC / Marie Curie, Oportunius program, etc.), it is essential to comply with the relevant instructions.
Here you can find several documents that may be helpful:
– Agencia Estatal de Investigación (AEI)
Where should I include these logos?
The short answer is: all of them.
For example:
– Presentations at conferences (oral sessions and posters), outreach talks, workshops, seminars, courses, scientific collaboration meetings, etc.
– Certificates or attendance reports
– Communication or merchandising material (rollups, notebooks, bags, folders, etc.)In scientific publications, a paragraph must be included mentioning the funding in the resolutions and scientific publications that are co-funded. Examples:
«Grant CEX2023- 001318-M funded by MICIU/AEI /10.13039/501100011033»
«This work has received financial support from the Xunta de Galicia (CIGUS Network of Research Centres) and the European Union through the Galicia Feder 2021-2027 Program»
