Meetings in the Gas-Filled Detectors and Systems Network Activity
GDS Fourth Topical Meeting “GDS in strong and non-uniform magnetic fields”.
GDS announces the fourth of its four Topical Meetings: GDS in strong and non-uniform magnetic fields.
In this fourth topical workshop the status of the current instrumentation and future developments across the world will be presented,
and dedicated sessions will be devoted to the issues and possibilities connected with the use of strongly non-uniform magnetic fields.
While magnetic fields are largely employed for particle identification and separation, at times the requirement of high uniformity
could be relaxed, allowing a more flexible and versatile use of gaseous detectors.
These possibilities, however, entail aspects that need special attention.
The following topics will be covered:
- State-of-the-art active targets and TPCs for nuclear structure
- Physics and limits of electron drift in strongly non-uniform fields
- Developments in gaseous detectors and behaviour in non-uniform fields
- Physics opportunities with non-uniform fields
- Simulations
The meeting will be held in Leuven (Belgium) from the 15th to the 17th of January 2020

GDS Third Topical Meeting “Workshop on Gas-filled Detectors and Systems (GDS): Rare-gas target handling and recycling systems”.
GDS announces the third of its four Topical Meetings: Rare-gas target handling and recycling systems.
The following topics will be covered:
- Gas detections systems: ongoing and forthcoming projects
- Physics opportunities with rare/expensive gases: reactions on 3, 4He, etc.
- Existing 3, 4He targets: gas jet, active target, cryogenics, etc.
- New gas mixtures
- Circulating systems
- Integration issues
- Simulations
The meeting will be held in IPN Orsay (France) from the 23rd to the 25th of January 2019
First circular.

GDS announces the first of its four Topical Meetings: GDS coupling to auxiliary detection systems.
This meeting is devoted to auxiliary detectors to be used in combination with GDS. Topics like particle gamma-ray and neutron detectors will be covered, together with the associated electronics readout systems, complex simulation environments and integration issues.
The following topics will be covered:
- Gas detections systems: ongoing and forthcoming projects
- Charged Particle Detectors for GDS
- Gamma-ray detectors for GDS
- Neutron detectors for GDS
- Simulation frameworks for complex systems
- Electronics for GDS and auxiliary detectors
