Guided tour + Welcome Drink
On Monday evening a tour around the old town will be organized, visiting historical buildings and squares in the old city centre. Several groups will be assembled to start the visit from the Obradoiro square. The tour will be in english and will last about 1 hour and a half.
The welcome drink will take place in Mercado de Abastos (Nave 5) after the guided tour. Santiago’s present-day Food Market was built in 1941. The previous City Market, which was demolished in 1937 to make way for the current building, was the first permanent structure housing the different markets that existed in Compostela at that time. The Market, which has been functioning for the last three centuries, is now one of Santiago’s leading establishments as regards the sale of fresh food.
Conference dinner
The conference dinner will be held on Wednesday at the Parador de Santiago de Compostela, also known as Hostal dos Reis Católicos. This Hostal is a blend of history, art and tradition, the dream of pilgrims and emblem of Santiago. It is located on Obradoiro Square. The hotel was built as a royal hospital in 1499 to accommodate pilgrims traveling to Santiago. Today, it continues to invite visitors to enjoy a city that is as universal as it is fascinating. This Parador Museum is considered the oldest hotel in the world.
