The headquarters of the Instituto Galego de Física de Altas Enerxías (IGFAE), a joint center of the University of Santiago de Compostela (USC) and the Xunta de Galicia, will host the Solenoidal Spectrometer Workshop 2025 from December 9 to 12. This event brings together the international community working with this type of instrument—essential in particle and nuclear physics experiments—to discuss the most recent advances and future plans in the field.

Nearly fifty experts in the discipline, coming from institutions in more than a dozen countries, will travel to Santiago de Compostela. Over the four days of the meeting, there will be talks by invited speakers, oral presentations selected by the scientific committee, as well as spaces for debate and discussion.

Among other topics, the workshop will address the physics advances achieved with solenoidal spectrometers and their applications in nuclear physics, the technological and operational developments of these instruments, the integration design of data-acquisition systems, data-analysis techniques and software tools, and theoretical aspects of low-energy nuclear physics.

“This workshop represents a unique opportunity to deepen international cooperation and share the latest advances in this technology, which is essential for experimental physics,” say Cristina Cabo and Yassid Ayyad, from the local organising committee.

In addition to the scientific activity, the program includes on the afternoon of Thursday, December 11, a guided visit to the Castro de Baroña, with the collaboration of the Porto do Son City Council.
