



{"id":15140,"date":"2024-01-25T15:23:11","date_gmt":"2024-01-25T13:23:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/igfae.usc.es\/igfaedb\/?p=15140"},"modified":"2025-02-04T12:50:35","modified_gmt":"2025-02-04T10:50:35","slug":"detector-califa-igfae-listo-alemana","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/igfae.usc.es\/igfaedb\/detector-califa-igfae-listo-alemana\/","title":{"rendered":"O detector CALIFA, constru\u00eddo no IGFAE, listo para funcionar en Alema\u00f1a tras case 20 anos de traballo"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Persoal do Instituto Galego de F\u00edsica de Altas Enerx\u00edas (IGFAE), centro mixto da Universidade de Santiago de Compostela e a Xunta de Galicia, viaxou nos \u00faltimos d\u00edas \u00e1 cidade de Darmstadt (Alema\u00f1a), para instalar os \u00faltimos m\u00f3dulos do detector <strong>CALIFA<\/strong>, un calor\u00edmetro que se integrar\u00e1 no centro de investigaci\u00f3n internacional FAIR. Este fito sup\u00f3n a culminaci\u00f3n de case 20 anos de traballo no dese\u00f1o e posterior construci\u00f3n do detector, nun proxecto liderado polo IGFAE.<\/p>\n<p>CALIFA instalarase no experimento R3B, unha das colaboraci\u00f3ns cient\u00edficas m\u00e1is importantes de FAIR. Este experimento, que conta actualmente coa participaci\u00f3n de m\u00e1is de 250 persoas de 15 pa\u00edses, ded\u00edcase ao estudo da estrutura e din\u00e1mica do n\u00facleo at\u00f3mico e est\u00e1 coordinado desde maio de 2017 pola investigadora Dolores Cortina. O persoal do IGFAE est\u00e1 involucrado desde 2005 neste proxecto, do que tam\u00e9n forma parte o grupo DSN (Dese\u00f1o e Simulaci\u00f3n Num\u00e9rica) da Universidade de Vigo, art\u00edfice do dese\u00f1o e construci\u00f3n da estrutura mec\u00e1nica do detector. Varias empresas galegas, especializadas na fabricaci\u00f3n de fibra de carbono, mecanizado de precisi\u00f3n e metrolox\u00eda, achegaron tam\u00e9n o seu co\u00f1ecemento para facer posible CALIFA.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-embedded-content\" data-secret=\"5hoggDXPIt\"><p><a href=\"https:\/\/igfae.usc.es\/igfaedb\/califa-installed-fair\/\">CALIFA xa est\u00e1 instalado en FAIR<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><iframe class=\"wp-embedded-content\" sandbox=\"allow-scripts\" security=\"restricted\" style=\"position: absolute; clip: rect(1px, 1px, 1px, 1px);\" title=\"&#8220;CALIFA xa est\u00e1 instalado en FAIR&#8221; &#8212; IGFAE\" src=\"https:\/\/igfae.usc.es\/igfaedb\/califa-installed-fair\/embed\/#?secret=5hoggDXPIt\" data-secret=\"5hoggDXPIt\" width=\"600\" height=\"338\" frameborder=\"0\" marginwidth=\"0\" marginheight=\"0\" scrolling=\"no\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<h5><strong>M\u00f3dulos de detecci\u00f3n CEPA<\/strong><\/h5>\n<p>Nesta \u00faltima fase, o equipo finalizou a construci\u00f3n e montaxe dos m\u00f3dulos de detecci\u00f3n de CALIFA co\u00f1ecidos como CEPA. Este paso mellorar\u00e1 de maneira substancial a detecci\u00f3n de radiaci\u00f3n gamma e part\u00edculas cargadas de alta enerx\u00eda que se producen no momento da reacci\u00f3n nuclear. Con isto aumentar\u00e1 de forma notable a eficiencia do experimento R3B, e facilitar\u00e1 a realizaci\u00f3n de medidas de precisi\u00f3n aproveitando as vantaxes dos feixes de i\u00f3ns acelerados en FAIR.<\/p>\n<p>Coa entrega de CEPA p\u00e9chase <a href=\"https:\/\/igfae.usc.es\/igfaedb\/gl\/califa-instalado-fair\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">unha etapa que durou m\u00e1is de 10 anos<\/a> (aos que hai que sumar a investigaci\u00f3n e dese\u00f1o previos) na que colaborou persoal cient\u00edfico e t\u00e9cnico de Espa\u00f1a, Alema\u00f1a e Suecia. O custo actual do detector CALIFA supera os 3,8 mill\u00f3ns de euros, 24% dos cales foron financiados con fondos captados por este equipo de investigaci\u00f3n. Unha vez completado o traballo, o custo final de CALIFA superar\u00e1 os 5 mill\u00f3ns.<\/p>\n<h5><strong>Aplicaci\u00f3ns nas tecnolox\u00edas de imaxe m\u00e9dica<\/strong><\/h5>\n<p>O calor\u00edmetro CALIFA \u00e9 capaz de detectar simultaneamente part\u00edculas cargadas e radiaci\u00f3n gamma, cubrindo un rango enerx\u00e9tico sen precedentes, dos kiloelectr\u00f3nvoltios (KeV) a centos de megaelectr\u00f3nvoltios (MeV). A tecnolox\u00eda de detecci\u00f3n utilizada neste tipo de detectores, as\u00ed como as t\u00e9cnicas de reconstruci\u00f3n da informaci\u00f3n obtida, son semellantes \u00e1s que se desenvolven no campo da imaxe m\u00e9dica. De feito, a I+D realizada para CALIFA dou p\u00e9 a un proxecto de \u201cproba de concepto\u201d cuxa finalidade \u00e9 acelerar a transferencia de co\u00f1ecemento e resultados xerados no \u00e1mbito da investigaci\u00f3n fundamental.<\/p>\n<h5><strong>Sobre R3B e FAIR<\/strong><\/h5>\n<p>O experimento <strong>R3B<\/strong> (Reactions with Relativistic Radioactive Beams) utiliza i\u00f3ns radioactivos a velocidades pr\u00f3ximas \u00e1 da luz, cos que se desenvolve un amplo programa de investigaci\u00f3n en cuesti\u00f3ns elementais para a f\u00edsica nuclear. Entre elas destacan o estudo de propiedades fundamentais dos n\u00facleos at\u00f3micos e da forza responsable de unir os prot\u00f3ns e neutr\u00f3ns que os forman, as\u00ed como a importancia das correlaci\u00f3ns que se dan entre nucle\u00f3ns. R3B ten tam\u00e9n por obxectivo reproducir as reacci\u00f3ns que te\u00f1en lugar no interior das estrelas, responsables de xerar unha enorme enerx\u00eda e crear os elementos que vemos no Universo.<\/p>\n<p>R3B \u00e9 un dos experimentos que se desenvolve en <strong>FAIR<\/strong> (Facility for Antiproton and Ion Research in Europe), un novo centro de investigaci\u00f3n internacional para o estudo da estrutura e propiedades da materia visible que forma o Universo. Enc\u00f3ntrase actualmente en construci\u00f3n, nas proximidades da cidade de Darmstadt. Unha vez finalicen estes traballos, FAIR estar\u00e1 equipado cos m\u00e1is potentes aceleradores de antiprot\u00f3ns e i\u00f3ns pesados do mundo. O centro acoller\u00e1 m\u00e1is de 3.000 cient\u00edficos e cient\u00edficas de 50 pa\u00edses, que desenvolver\u00e1n labores de investigaci\u00f3n b\u00e1sica e aplicada no campo da f\u00edsica nuclear. O custo da obra, duns 1.500 mill\u00f3ns de euros, est\u00e1 financiada por un consorcio de nove pa\u00edses.<\/p>\n<p>O equipo do IGFAE que contribu\u00edu \u00e1 instalaci\u00f3n de CALIFA en R3B compux\u00e9rono Dolores Cortina, H\u00e9ctor \u00c1lvarez, Jos\u00e9 Benlliure, Martina Feijoo, Ant\u00eda Gonz\u00e1lez, David Gonz\u00e1lez, Gabriel Mart\u00ednez, Jos\u00e9 Luis Rodr\u00edguez e
