Estes datos e ferramentas de software para analizalos p\u00f3\u00f1ense a disposici\u00f3n do p\u00fablico para que sexan utilizados por unha ampla e diversa comunidade, inclu\u00edndo cient\u00edficos profesionais, cidadan\u00eda e iniciativas educativas e de divulgaci\u00f3n. P\u00f3dese acceder aos datos en <a href=\"http:\/\/www.auger.org\/opendata\">www.auger.org\/opendata<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>O Observatorio Pierre Auger pertence a unha colaboraci\u00f3n de preto de 400 cient\u00edficos de m\u00e1is de 90 instituci\u00f3ns de 18 pa\u00edses de todo o mundo, entre os que se atopan membros do IGFAE, que participa no observatorio desde a d\u00e9cada dos 90 cando estaba a\u00ednda en fase de dese\u00f1o. O observatorio, que ten una extensi\u00f3n de 3000 km<sup>2<\/sup>, funciona exclusivamente cos achegas dos pa\u00edses participantes. A contribuci\u00f3n do IGFAE o longo destes anos f\u00edxose maiormente con apoio do Ministerio de Ciencia e Innovaci\u00f3n e da Xunta de Galicia.<\/p>\n<p>Os resultados obtidos polo observatorio est\u00e1n permitindo determinar as propiedades dos raios c\u00f3smicos de maior enerx\u00eda cunha precisi\u00f3n sen precedentes. Estes raios c\u00f3smicos son, na s\u00faa meirande parte, n\u00facleos at\u00f3micos que chegan \u00e1 Terra dende fontes astrof\u00edsicas. Cos datos do Observatorio demostrouse que as part\u00edculas de maior enerx\u00eda te\u00f1en unha orixe extra-gal\u00e1ctica. O espectro enerx\u00e9tico dos raios c\u00f3smicos foi medido m\u00e1is al\u00e1 de 10<sup>20<\/sup> eV, o que corresponde a un valor macrosc\u00f3pico duns 16 joules nunha soa part\u00edcula elemental. Demostrouse que hai unha forte ca\u00edda do fluxo a alta enerx\u00eda e descubr\u00edronse novos indicios de emisi\u00f3ns procedentes de fontes pr\u00f3ximas. A an\u00e1lise dos datos permitiron caracterizar o tipo de part\u00edcula que transportan estas enerx\u00edas tan elevadas, que incl\u00faen elementos que van desde o hidr\u00f3xeno ata o silicio. Os datos tam\u00e9n se poden usar para estudar a f\u00edsica de part\u00edculas a enerx\u00edas f\u00f3ra do alcance do Gran Colisor de Hadr\u00f3ns ou LHC no CERN (Xenebra), o maior acelerador de part\u00edculas do mundo.<\/p>\n<p>No Observatorio Pierre Auger situado na Arxentina, os raios c\u00f3smicos obs\u00e9rvanse indirectamente, a trav\u00e9s de chuvieiras de part\u00edculas secundarias producidas pola interacci\u00f3n do raio c\u00f3smico coa atmosfera. O detector de superficie do Observatorio abrangue 3000 km\u00b2 e comprende 1600 detectores de part\u00edculas separados entre si 1500 m. A zona est\u00e1 rodeada por un conxunto de telescopios que compo\u00f1en o detector de fluorescencia con sensibilidade \u00e1 luz de fluorescencia emitida ao desenvolverse a cascada no aire, mentres que o detector de superficie rexistra os mu\u00f3ns, electr\u00f3ns e fot\u00f3ns que chegan ao chan. Os datos do Observatorio, postos a disposici\u00f3n do p\u00fablico en acceso aberto, incl\u00faen tanto datos en bruto sen procesar como tam\u00e9n datos reconstru\u00eddos mediante an\u00e1lises detalladas, e os propios datos presentados en publicaci\u00f3ns cient\u00edficas. Alg\u00fans dos datos comp\u00e1rtense de forma habitual con outros observatorios para realizar an\u00e1lises de todo o ceo e para utilizar nos estudos de astronom\u00eda de multi-mensaxeiros, cuxa sinal pode estar composta por radiaci\u00f3n electromagn\u00e9tica, ondas gravitacionais ou part\u00edculas subat\u00f3micas..<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Os datos do Observatorio Pierre Auger, que foi fundado hai m\u00e1is de 20 anos, son o resultado dun vasto e continuado investimento cient\u00edfico, humano e financeiro por unha gran colaboraci\u00f3n internacional\u201d, sinala o seu director, Ralph Engel. \u201cOs datos son de gran valor para a comunidade cient\u00edfica mundial&#8221;.
