{"id":4922,"date":"2019-11-18T12:20:33","date_gmt":"2019-11-18T11:20:33","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/localhost:8888\/igfae-ber\/tras-a-desintegracion-mais-insolita\/"},"modified":"2024-04-12T14:22:47","modified_gmt":"2024-04-12T12:22:47","slug":"tras-a-desintegracion-mais-insolita","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/igfae.usc.es\/igfae\/tras-a-desintegracion-mais-insolita\/","title":{"rendered":"Tras a desintegraci\u00f3n m\u00e1is ins\u00f3lita"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>O pasado mes de setembro, a colaboraci\u00f3n do <strong>experimento LHCb<\/strong> presentou no <em><a href=\"https:\/\/indico.cern.ch\/event\/769729\/\">\u201cInternational Conference on Kaon Physics 2019\u201d<\/a><\/em> unhas medidas preliminares do proceso de <strong>desintegraci\u00f3n do K0S<\/strong> (part\u00edcula composta de dous quarks) <strong>en dous mu\u00f3ns<\/strong> (part\u00edculas case id\u00e9nticas ao electr\u00f3n, pero de maior masa). Ademais de que a procura deste evento \u00e9 todo un desaf\u00edo por ser extremadamente infrecuente \u2013s\u00f3 cinco de cada bill\u00f3n de K0 S descomponse desta forma segundo co Modelo Est\u00e1ndar\u2013 \u00e9 a <strong>medida m\u00e1is precisa ata a data dunha taxa de desintegraci\u00f3n.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Para achar este fen\u00f3meno, o equipo tivo que modificar notablemente os algoritmos de detecci\u00f3n do experimento LHCb, o que se realizou no marco do <em><a href=\"https:\/\/cordis.europa.eu\/project\/rcn\/193622\/factsheet\/en\">proxecto financiado polo European Research Council (ERC)<\/a><\/em> do investigador do IGFAE <strong>Diego Mart\u00ednez Santos<\/strong>. Este f\u00edsico foi galardoado en 2013 co <em>Young Experimental Physicist Prize<\/em> da Sociedade Europea de F\u00edsica pola medida da desintegraci\u00f3n do B0s \u2013part\u00edcula similar ao K0s, pero de maior masa\u2013 en dous mu\u00f3ns, cunha frecuencia de tres partes por cada mil mill\u00f3ns. Estas desintegraci\u00f3ns tan pouco frecuentes son medidas moi importantes en f\u00edsica de part\u00edculas, pois permiten testar a presenza ou ausencia de campos cu\u00e1nticos non inclu\u00eddos no <strong>Modelo Est\u00e1ndar<\/strong>. Devanditos campos desviar\u00edan o valor medido respecto a a predici\u00f3n do Modelo.<\/p>\n<p>Se a previsi\u00f3n do Modelo Est\u00e1ndar \u00e9 correcta, a mostra de datos analizada deber\u00eda conter aproximadamente dous destas desintegraci\u00f3ns do K0S, que, de confirmarse, ser\u00eda a <strong>desintegraci\u00f3n m\u00e1is rara xamais detectada<\/strong>, e mil veces m\u00e1is infrecuente que a do mes\u00f3n Bs. A an\u00e1lise estat\u00edstica a\u00ednda non demostra con contundencia a presenza deses dous sucesos, pero xa permite establecer l\u00edmites superiores a un nivel de precisi\u00f3n sen precedentes no LHC, acoutando a hipot\u00e9tica presenza de part\u00edculas a\u00ednda por descubrir como as <strong>supersim\u00e9tricas<\/strong> ou os <strong>leptoquarks<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>No futuro, a precisi\u00f3n desta procura seguir\u00e1 refin\u00e1ndose coas novas mostras que se esperan obter a partir de 2021 unha vez actualizado o detector do LHCb. Ademais do aumento da luminosidade, ter\u00e1 un novo software de detecci\u00f3n, que se espera que mellore significativamente a eficiencia do sinal.<\/p>\n<p>Este traballo presentado no <em>\u201cInternational Conference on Kaon Physics 2019\u201d <\/em>polo investigador predoutoral do IGFAE <strong>Miguel Ramos Pernas<\/strong> inclu\u00eduse entre os tres resultados destacados xunto a un novo de KOTO (Xap\u00f3n) e do proxecto CERN- NA62, ademais de ser un dos artigos destacados no <a href=\"https:\/\/cerncourier.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/11\/CERNCourier2019NovDec-digitaledition.pdf\">novo n\u00famero do CERN Courier.<\/a> O equipo de an\u00e1lise comp\u00faxose polos investigadores do IGFAE Diego Mart\u00ednez Santos, Miguel Ramos Pernas, Claire Prouve, Veronika Chobanova, Xabier Cid Vidal e Alexandre Brea, ademais de M.\u00a0 Bettler (Cambridge) e G. Graziani (INFN Firenze).<\/p>\n<p>M\u00e1is informaci\u00f3n:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><em><a href=\"http:\/\/lhcb-public.web.cern.ch\/lhcb-public\/Welcome.html#Beauty2019\">Hunting for the rarest strange decays at the LHC, KS0\u2192\u03bc\u03bc.<\/a><\/em><\/li>\n<li><em><a href=\"https:\/\/cerncourier.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/11\/CERNCourier2019NovDec-digitaledition.pdf\">Rarest strange decay shrinks from sight<\/a> (CERN Courier November\/December issue)<\/em><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/indico.cern.ch\/event\/769729\/contributions\/3510936\/attachments\/1904808\/3182059\/Miguel_Ramos_Pernas_K0S2mu2.pdf\">Presentaci\u00f3n utilizada no <em>\u201cInternational Conference on Kaon Physics 2019\u201d<\/em>\u00a0<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Imaxe: Distribuci\u00f3n da masa invariante obtida tras a reconstrucci\u00f3n e selecci\u00f3n de pares de mu\u00f3ns con carga opuesta, candidatos \u00e1 desintegraci\u00f3n KS0 -&gt; mu+ mu-. As l\u00ed\u00f1as corresp\u00f3ndense coas distintas compo\u00f1entes dun axuste a dito espectro. En negro am\u00f3sase o modelo global, en verde a compo\u00f1ente do sinal, en laranxa a contribuci\u00f3n por desintegraci\u00f3ns de mes\u00f3ns KL0, e en vermello a contribuci\u00f3n por KS0 -&gt; pi+ pi-, onde os dous pi\u00f3ns son identificados err\u00f3neamente como mu\u00f3ns.
