{"id":20861,"date":"2025-07-09T11:30:37","date_gmt":"2025-07-09T09:30:37","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/igfae.usc.es\/igfae\/?p=20861"},"modified":"2025-08-19T14:28:16","modified_gmt":"2025-08-19T12:28:16","slug":"redongra","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/igfae.usc.es\/igfae\/redongra\/","title":{"rendered":"O IGFAE \u00fanese a REDONGRA, unha rede para impulsar a ciencia de ondas gravitacionais en Espa\u00f1a"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A Rede Espa\u00f1ola de F\u00edsica de Ondas Gravitacionais (<a href=\"https:\/\/redongra.github.io\/website\/\">REDONGRA<\/a>), da que \u00e9 membro o Instituto Galego de F\u00edsica de Altas Enerx\u00edas (IGFAE), acaba de obter un importante financiamento do Ministerio de Ciencia, Innovaci\u00f3n e Universidades na convocatoria 2024 de Redes de Investigaci\u00f3n. Este apoio econ\u00f3mico reco\u00f1ece a importancia estrat\u00e9xica de REDONGRA para consolidar e expandir o liderado de Espa\u00f1a no campo da ciencia de ondas gravitacionais.<\/p>\n<p>REDONGRA ten dous obxectivos principais: coordinar e maximizar a contribuci\u00f3n de Espa\u00f1a \u00e1 ciencia de ondas gravitacionais, e preparar \u00e1 pr\u00f3xima xeraci\u00f3n cient\u00edfica e de infraestruturas para futuras misi\u00f3ns de vangarda, como LISA e o Einstein Telescope. A rede desenvolver\u00e1 unha folla de ruta para a implicaci\u00f3n estrat\u00e9xica de Espa\u00f1a nestas misi\u00f3ns, co obxectivo de avanzar no co\u00f1ecemento do Universo mediante a detecci\u00f3n e a an\u00e1lise de ondas gravitacionais.<\/p>\n<p>A rede, liderada por Carlos Fern\u00e1ndez Sopuerta, investigador s\u00e9nior no Instituto de Ciencias do Espazo (ICE-CSIC), re\u00fane a 20 grupos de investigaci\u00f3n de excelencia de toda Espa\u00f1a, inclu\u00edndo instituci\u00f3ns xa activas en grandes colaboraci\u00f3ns internacionais como LIGO, Virgo, o Einstein Telescope, LISA e as Redes de Sincronizaci\u00f3n de P\u00falsares (PTA, polas s\u00faas siglas en ingl\u00e9s).<\/p>\n<p>\u201cA rede REDONGRA ofrece unha oportunidade \u00fanica para a crecente comunidade espa\u00f1ola dedicada \u00e1 astronom\u00eda de ondas gravitacionais, que potenciar\u00e1 a participaci\u00f3n nas colaboraci\u00f3ns internacionais actuais e futuras\u201d, sinala Carlos F. Sopuerta.<\/p>\n<h4><strong>IGFAE en REDONGRA<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p>O <a href=\"https:\/\/igfae.usc.es\/igfae\/programa-de-investigacion\/gravitational-waves\/\">equipo de ondas gravitacionais do IGFAE<\/a>, liderado por Thomas Dent e Juan Calder\u00f3n Bustillo, desempe\u00f1ou un papel destacado na comunidade espa\u00f1ola desde a s\u00faa creaci\u00f3n en 2018, sendo o \u00fanico grupo que realiza unha an\u00e1lise completa dos sinais de ondas gravitacionais, desde a s\u00faa detecci\u00f3n ata a interpretaci\u00f3n astrof\u00edsica.<\/p>\n<p>Actualmente, o equipo do IGFAE traballa na finalizaci\u00f3n dos \u00faltimos resultados do m\u00e1is recente per\u00edodo de observaci\u00f3n de LIGO, Virgo e KAGRA, que recentemente identificou a 300\u00aa detecci\u00f3n candidata a fusi\u00f3n de buracos negros ou estrelas de neutr\u00f3ns desde 2015.<\/p>\n<p>As actividades de REDONGRA comezaron en maio de 2025 e xa hai varios eventos programados para o resto do ano. En primeiro lugar, do 23 ao 25 de xu\u00f1o celebrouse o Encontro Ib\u00e9rico de Ondas Gravitacionais (no que Juan Calder\u00f3n actuou como coordinador das sesi\u00f3ns), onde se reuniron todos os membros da rede para revisar avances, compartir actualizaci\u00f3ns de investigaci\u00f3n e planificar proxectos colaborativos para o pr\u00f3ximo ano.<\/p>\n<p>Outras actividades previstas para este ano incl\u00faen o d\u00e9cimo aniversario da primeira detecci\u00f3n de ondas gravitacionais, os d\u00edas 15 e 16 de setembro na Universidade das Illas Baleares (UIB), en Mallorca (con Thomas Dent como un dos po\u00f1entes destacados); a segunda reuni\u00f3n LISA Espa\u00f1a, os d\u00edas 23 e 24 de outubro no CSIC en Madrid; e o d\u00e9cimo aniversario do lanzamento da misi\u00f3n LISA Pathfinder o 3 de decembro no ICE-CSIC, en Barcelona. No futuro, a rede tam\u00e9n organizar\u00e1 unha escola de f\u00edsica de ondas gravitacionais, que ofrecer\u00e1 un programa integral de formaci\u00f3n para estudantes de posgraduado que se inicien neste campo.<\/p>\n<p>Esta nova etapa no desenvolvemento de REDONGRA representa unha expansi\u00f3n significativa respecto a as s\u00faas fases anteriores e sit\u00faa a Espa\u00f1a no centro dun panorama internacional en r\u00e1pida evoluci\u00f3n. Ao ali\u00f1ar instituci\u00f3ns de investigaci\u00f3n de primeiro nivel baixo unha visi\u00f3n compartida e ao investir en formaci\u00f3n e divulgaci\u00f3n, REDONGRA proponse converter a ciencia de ondas gravitacionais non s\u00f3 nunha fronteira cient\u00edfica, sen\u00f3n nunha fortaleza da rede de investigaci\u00f3n estatal.<\/p>\n<h4><strong>20 grupos de investigaci\u00f3n de excelencia en Espa\u00f1a<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p>A rede REDONGRA est\u00e1 formada, ademais do IGFAE, polas seguintes instituci\u00f3ns: o Instituto de Ciencias del Espacio (ICE-CSIC), o Centro de Investigaciones Energ\u00e9ticas, Ambientales y Tecnol\u00f3gicas (CIEMAT), o Instituto de Astrof\u00edsica de Andaluc\u00eda (IAA-CSIC), o Instituto de Astrof\u00edsica de Canarias (IAC), o Institut de Ci\u00e8ncies del Cosmos da Universidade de Barcelona (ICCUB), o Instituto de Estrutura da Materia (IEM-CSIC), o Institut de F\u00edsica d\u2019Altes Energies (IFAE), o Instituto de F\u00edsica de Cantabria (IFCA-CSIC\/UC), o Instituto de F\u00edsica Corpuscular (IFIC-CSIC\/UV), o Instituto de F\u00edsica Te\u00f3rica (IFT-CSIC\/UAM), a Universidade de Alacant (UA), a Universidad de C\u00e1diz (UCA), a Universidad de Granada (UGR), a Universitat de les Illes Balears (UIB), a Universitat Polit\u00e8cnica de Catalunya &#8211; BarcelonaTech (UPC), a Universidad Polit\u00e9cnica de Madrid (UPM), a Universidade do Pa\u00eds Vasco (UPV\/EHU), a Universidad de Salamanca (USAL) e a Universitat de Val\u00e8ncia (UV).<\/p>\n<p>O IGFAE, centro mixto da USC e a Xunta de Galicia, incorporou a astronom\u00eda de ondas gravitacionais \u00e1 s\u00faa axenda cient\u00edfica en 2017, tras ser acreditado como Unidade de Excelencia Mar\u00eda de Maeztu. Ese mesmo ano, a direcci\u00f3n cient\u00edfica do IGFAE identificou as ondas gravitacionais como unha grande oportunidade para abrir unha nova li\u00f1a de investigaci\u00f3n. Este compromiso traduciuse na creaci\u00f3n dun equipo no propio centro e a s\u00faa incorporaci\u00f3n \u00e1 colaboraci\u00f3n LIGO en 2018.<\/p>\n<p>Nestes anos, o persoal do Instituto xa asumiu tarefas relevantes de an\u00e1lise dentro deste experimento, no que participan m\u00e1is de 1500 persoas de m\u00e1is de 20 pa\u00edses. Ademais, algunhas detecci\u00f3ns destes eventos est\u00e1n a abrir a porta para demostrar a existencia de obxectos c\u00f3smicos m\u00e1is al\u00f3 do Modelo Est\u00e1ndar, as\u00ed como posibles candidatos a materia escura. Coa apertura da nova sede, o IGFAE tam\u00e9n planea dedicar un dos seus laboratorios ao desenvolvemento de instrumentaci\u00f3n para experimentos de ondas gravitacionais.<\/p>\n<h5><strong>Sobre el IGFAE<\/strong><\/h5>\n<p>El Instituto Galego de F\u00edsica de Altas Enerx\u00edas (IGFAE) es un centro de investigaci\u00f3n creado en 1999 por la Universidad de Santiago de Compostela y la Xunta de Galicia. Su misi\u00f3n es coordinar y promover la investigaci\u00f3n cient\u00edfica y t\u00e9cnica en f\u00edsica de altas energ\u00edas, f\u00edsica de part\u00edculas y f\u00edsica nuclear, as\u00ed como en campos relacionados como la astrof\u00edsica, la f\u00edsica m\u00e9dica y la instrumentaci\u00f3n. El instituto cuenta con alrededor de 140 miembros que participan en importantes instalaciones experimentales como el CERN, el Observatorio Pierre Auger, LIGO y GSI\/FAIR, entre otras.<\/p>\n<p>El IGFAE ha sido acreditado como Unidad de Excelencia Mar\u00eda de Maeztu por la Agencia Estatal de Investigaci\u00f3n del Gobierno espa\u00f1ol. Tambi\u00e9n forma parte de la red CIGUS de la Xunta de Galicia, que acredita la calidad y el impacto de su investigaci\u00f3n.
