{"id":5051,"date":"2019-12-04T10:50:12","date_gmt":"2019-12-04T09:50:12","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/localhost:8888\/igfae-ber\/?p=5051"},"modified":"2024-04-12T14:22:47","modified_gmt":"2024-04-12T12:22:47","slug":"califa-instalado-fair","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/igfae.usc.es\/igfae\/es\/califa-instalado-fair\/","title":{"rendered":"CALIFA ya est\u00e1 instalado en FAIR"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Este detector, cuyo dise\u00f1o y construcci\u00f3n ha sido liderado por el Instituto Galego de F\u00edsica de Altas Enerx\u00edas (IGFAE), estudiar\u00e1 la estructura de n\u00facleos at\u00f3micos \u201cex\u00f3ticos\u201d en el laboratorio de investigaci\u00f3n nuclear FAIR, una de las infraestructuras cient\u00edficas estrat\u00e9gicas de la Comisi\u00f3n Europea. En el dise\u00f1o y construcci\u00f3n de la estructura mec\u00e1nica de CALIFA tambi\u00e9n ha participado la Universidade de Vigo y varias empresas gallegas.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>CALIFA<\/strong> ya est\u00e1 instalado en el experimento R3B del acelerador <strong>FAIR<\/strong>, en Darmstadt (Alemania), una de las instalaciones cient\u00edficas europeas de referencia en f\u00edsica nuclear. Tras finalizarse su dise\u00f1o y construcci\u00f3n, la puesta en marcha de CALIFA permitir\u00e1 realizar experimentos de precisi\u00f3n aprovechando las ventajas de los primeros haces de iones acelerados en FAIR. Con ellos, se estudiar\u00e1 la <strong>estructura y din\u00e1mica de n\u00facleos at\u00f3micos inestables o ex\u00f3ticos<\/strong> a partir de 2020<\/p>\n<p>El IGFAE participa desde hace m\u00e1s de una d\u00e9cada en la <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gsi.de\/work\/forschung\/nustarenna\/nustarenna_divisions\/kernreaktionen\/activities\/r3b.htm\">colaboraci\u00f3n R3B<\/a> <em>(Reactions with Relativistic Radioactive Beams)<\/em>, formada por 230 personas de 15 pa\u00edses y coordinada desde mayo de 2017 por la investigadora del IGFAE y profesora de la USC Dolores Cortina. Su grupo ha liderado entre 2005 y 2017 el dise\u00f1o y construcci\u00f3n de su detector, <strong>CALIFA<\/strong> <em>(CALorimeter for In-Flight detection of gamma-rays and high energy charged pArticles),<\/em> un <strong>novedoso calor\u00edmetro<\/strong> capaz de detectar simult\u00e1neamente part\u00edculas cargadas y radiaci\u00f3n gamma, cubriendo un rango energ\u00e9tico sin precedentes: de los kiloelectr\u00f3nvoltios (KeV) a las centenas de megaelectr\u00f3nvoltios (MeV). Cabe destacar que la tecnolog\u00eda de detecci\u00f3n utilizada en este tipo de detectores, as\u00ed como las t\u00e9cnicas de reconstrucci\u00f3n de la informaci\u00f3n que se colecta, son comunes con las que se desarrollan en <strong>imagen m\u00e9dica<\/strong> y son \u00fatiles para el diagn\u00f3stico de enfermedades.<\/p>\n<p><strong>R3B<\/strong> utilizar\u00e1 iones radiactivos a velocidades cercanas a las de la luz y permitir\u00e1 desarrollar un amplio programa de investigaci\u00f3n que abordar\u00e1 cuestiones cruciales para la f\u00edsica nuclear, como el estudio de propiedades fundamentales de los n\u00facleos at\u00f3micos y de la fuerza responsable de unir los protones y neutrones que los forman, adem\u00e1s de <strong>reproducir las reacciones que tienen lugar en las estrellas<\/strong>, responsables de generar su energ\u00eda y crear los elementos que vemos en el Universo.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Un \u201cCALIFA\u201d muy gallego<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>En la construcci\u00f3n de CALIFA, cuyo coste supera los 3,5 millones de euros en su primera fase (22% de los cuales han sido financiados con fondos captados por este equipo) y m\u00e1s de 5 millones de euros en total, ha participado personal investigador de Alemania, Suecia y Rusia. Dentro de Espa\u00f1a, <strong>la contribuci\u00f3n gallega ha sido notable.<\/strong> Desde 2005, el IGFAE colabora con el <a href=\"http:\/\/cima.uvigo.es\/\">grupo CIMA de ingenier\u00eda mec\u00e1nica de la Universidade de Vigo<\/a>, quien ha sido art\u00edfice del dise\u00f1o de la estructura mec\u00e1nica del detector. Adem\u00e1s, empresas gallegas especializadas se han encargado de la fabricaci\u00f3n de fibra de carbono, mecanizado de precisi\u00f3n y metrolog\u00eda. El otro grupo espa\u00f1ol de CALIFA es del <a href=\"http:\/\/www.iem.csic.es\/\">Instituto de Estructura de la Materia (IEM-CSIC)<\/a>, centrado en desarrollar los centelladores innovadores de la parte frontal del detector que recibir\u00e1n una enorme cantidad de radiaci\u00f3n y donde la resoluci\u00f3n en energ\u00eda juega un papel muy importante.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/fair-center.eu\/index.php?id=1\">FAIR<\/a> (<em>Facility for Antiproton and Ion Research<\/em>) es un nuevo centro de investigaci\u00f3n internacional prioritario para la Comisi\u00f3n Europea, incluido en la <a href=\"http:\/\/roadmap2018.esfri.eu\/projects-and-landmarks\/browse-the-catalogue\/fair\/\">hoja de ruta ESFRI 2018<\/a> que identifica las instalaciones cient\u00edficas prioritarias de inter\u00e9s paneuropeo. Un consorcio internacional contribuye a financiar los 1.500 millones de euros que costar\u00e1 este laboratorio equipado con los m\u00e1s potentes aceleradores de antiprotones e iones pesados del mundo. All\u00ed, m\u00e1s de 3.000 personas de 50 pa\u00edses estudiar\u00e1n la estructura y propiedades de la materia visible que forma el Universo, desarrollando labores de investigaci\u00f3n b\u00e1sica y aplicada en el campo de la f\u00edsica nuclear.
