{"id":4921,"date":"2019-11-18T12:20:33","date_gmt":"2019-11-18T11:20:33","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/localhost:8888\/igfae-ber\/tras-la-desintegracion-mas-insolita\/"},"modified":"2024-04-12T14:22:47","modified_gmt":"2024-04-12T12:22:47","slug":"tras-la-desintegracion-mas-insolita","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/igfae.usc.es\/igfae\/es\/tras-la-desintegracion-mas-insolita\/","title":{"rendered":"Tras la desintegraci\u00f3n m\u00e1s ins\u00f3lita"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>El pasado mes de septiembre, la colaboraci\u00f3n del <strong>experimento LHCb<\/strong> present\u00f3 en el <a href=\"https:\/\/indico.cern.ch\/event\/769729\/\"><em>\u201cInternational Conference on Kaon Physics 2019\u201d<\/em><\/a> unas medidas preliminares del proceso de <strong>desintegraci\u00f3n del K0S<\/strong> (part\u00edcula compuesta de dos quarks) <strong>en dos muones<\/strong> (part\u00edculas casi id\u00e9nticas al electr\u00f3n, pero de mayor masa). Adem\u00e1s de que la b\u00fasqueda de este evento es todo un desaf\u00edo por ser extremadamente infrecuente \u2013solo cinco de cada bill\u00f3n de K0S se descompone de esta forma seg\u00fan con el Modelo Est\u00e1ndar\u2013 es la <strong>medida m\u00e1s precisa hasta la fecha de una tasa de desintegraci\u00f3n<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Para hallar este fen\u00f3meno, el equipo tuvo que modificar notablemente los algoritmos de detecci\u00f3n del experimento LHCb, lo que se ha realizado en el marco del <a href=\"https:\/\/cordis.europa.eu\/project\/rcn\/193622\/factsheet\/en\">proyecto financiado por el <em>European Research Council<\/em> (ERC)<\/a> del investigador del IGFAE <strong>Diego Mart\u00ednez Santos<\/strong>. \u00a0Este f\u00edsico fue galardonado en 2013 con el <em>Young Experimental Physicist Prize<\/em> de la Sociedad Europea de F\u00edsica por la medida de la desintegraci\u00f3n del B0s \u2013part\u00edcula similar al K0s, pero de mayor masa\u2013 en dos muones, con una frecuencia de tres partes por cada mil millones. Estas desintegraciones tan poco frecuentes son medidas muy importantes en f\u00edsica de part\u00edculas, pues permiten testar la presencia o ausencia de campos cu\u00e1nticos no incluidos en el Modelo Est\u00e1ndar. Dichos campos desviar\u00edan el valor medido respecto a la predicci\u00f3n del Modelo.<\/p>\n<p>Si la previsi\u00f3n del Modelo Est\u00e1ndar es correcta, la muestra de datos analizada deber\u00eda contener aproximadamente dos de estas desintegraciones del K0S, que, de confirmarse, ser\u00eda la <strong>desintegraci\u00f3n m\u00e1s rara jam\u00e1s detectada<\/strong>, y mil veces m\u00e1s infrecuente que la del mes\u00f3n Bs. El an\u00e1lisis estad\u00edstico aun no demuestra con contundencia la presencia de esos dos sucesos, pero ya permite establecer l\u00edmites superiores a un nivel de precisi\u00f3n sin precedentes en el LHC, acotando la hipot\u00e9tica presencia de part\u00edculas a\u00fan por descubrir como las <strong>supersim\u00e9tricas<\/strong> o los <strong>leptoquarks<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>En el futuro, la precisi\u00f3n de esta b\u00fasqueda seguir\u00e1 refin\u00e1ndose con las nuevas muestras que se esperan obtener a partir de 2021 una vez actualizado el detector del LHCb. Adem\u00e1s del aumento de la luminosidad, tendr\u00e1 un nuevo software de detecci\u00f3n, que se espera que mejore significativamente la eficiencia de la se\u00f1al.<\/p>\n<p>Este trabajo presentado en el <em>\u201cInternational Conference on Kaon Physics 2019\u201d<\/em> por el investigador predoctoral del IGFAE <strong>Miguel Ramos Pernas<\/strong> se incluy\u00f3 entre los tres resultados destacados junto a uno nuevo de KOTO (Jap\u00f3n) y del proyecto CERN-NA62, adem\u00e1s de ser uno de los art\u00edculos destacados en <a href=\"https:\/\/cerncourier.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/11\/CERNCourier2019NovDec-digitaledition.pdf\">el nuevo n\u00famero del CERN Courier<\/a>. El equipo de an\u00e1lisis se compuso por los investigadores del IGFAE Diego Mart\u00ednez Santos, Miguel Ramos Pernas, Claire Prouve, Veronika Chobanova, Xabier Cid Vidal y Alexandre Brea, adem\u00e1s de M. Bettler (Cambridge) y G. Las l\u00edneas se corresponden con las distintas componentes de un ajuste a dicho espectro.
