Science will have its own space in this edition of the Revenidas festival<\/a>, which will be held in Vilaxo\u00e1n (Vilagarc\u00eda de Arousa – Galicia, Spain) from 10 to 13 September 2026. The Ondas e part\u00edculas (\u201cWaves and Particles\u201d) stage, which will be located in the festival grounds, will offer the Revenidas audience a fantastic programme of talks and workshops given by some of the most well-known figures in outreach in Spain. <\/p>\n

This is a project promoted by the Instituto Galego de F\u00edsica de Altas Enerx\u00edas (IGFAE), with the support of the CERN Science and Society Foundation and the Fundaci\u00f3n Espa\u00f1ola para la Ciencia y la Tecnolog\u00eda (FECYT)<\/a>. The Revenidas Festival will be the only stop in Spain of the CERN Festival Programme this year, an initiative that since 2016 has brought scientific outreach to music festivals all over the world. IGFAE took place in previous editions, at Rototom Sunsplash festival, with <\/a>Jose Edelstein (2024)<\/a> and Cristina Cabo and Yassid Ayyad (2025).<\/a> This year the Programme will have a stage at music festivals in the United Kingdom, the Czech Republic, Denmark, Germany and at the Texas festival of the legendary musician Willie Nelson in the USA. <\/p>\n

CERN<\/a>, the renowned physics organisation based on the border between Switzerland and France at the city of Geneva, welcomes over 500 Spanish physicists, engineers, technicians and students and is home to the largest scientific instrument ever built, the Large Hadron Collider, as well as the world\u2019s only Antimatter Factory and is the birthplace of the World Wide Web.<\/p>\n

The scientific lineup of Revenidas will be made up of names such as Eduardo S\u00e1enz de Cabez\u00f3n, Ver\u00f3nica Bol\u00f3n, Paula Desir\u00e9, Jose Edelstein and Adri\u00e1n Garc\u00eda (\u201cEl F\u00edsico Barbudo). Some of the artists who will be part of the musical lineup of Revenidas in 2026 will also take to the \u201cWaves and Particles\u201d stage. And there will be a chance to get hands-on: the stage will offer a variety of special workshops to build \u2013 and take away – your own solar chargers, observing a cloud chamber, and even tasting ice cream made with liquid nitrogen. <\/p>\n

On behalf of the Revenidas festival, its director, Xo\u00e1n Quint\u00e1ns, emphasises: “It is such a great honour for Revenidas to collaborate with an institution of the international prestige of CERN and to become the first festival in Galicia to take part in this initiative. We have always noted the importance of investment in science, research and knowledge as fundamental pillar for creating a better and more equal society. Being able to bring scientific outreach to the festival audience, in partnership with IGFAE ), fits perfectly with the values that Revenidas has been promoting for over twenty years”.<\/p>\n

The IGFAE director, Carlos Salgado, remarks: \u201cWe believe that science and arts are activities that share many similarities. Through this initiative, as well as raising awareness of various scientific topics amongst Revenidas audience, we also aim to convey the excitement of doing and understanding science, and how this understanding connects us to a complex and fascinating reality, of which the festival\u2019s music is also a great example\u201d.<\/p>\n
