Next week the IGFAE is holding the 29th edition of one of the most important international conferences in particle physics: DIS2022.<\/strong><\/p>\n

From 2 to 6 May, Santiago de Compostela will host DIS2022: XXIX International Workshop on Deep-Inelastic Scattering and Related Subjects<\/a>, a conference organised by the Galician Institute of High Energy Physics (IGFAE), a joint centre of the USC and the Xunta de Galicia, which will bring together more than 300 people from 31 countries working on the most relevant topics in high-energy physics. Its long trajectory after 29 editions in different countries \u2013only interrupted in 2020 by the pandemic\u2013 as well as the diversity of topics, presentations, and attendees, has made this meeting one of the most important in the field.<\/p>\n

Divided into 7 plenary sessions and 6 parallel topical workshops, an important part of the programme is devoted to the latest results from the world’s largest particle accelerators and experiments such as those at the Brookhaven National Laboratory (BNL), the European Organization for Nuclear Research (CERN), the German synchrotron DESY, the Fermi National Accelerator Laboratory (FNAL), the Thomas Jefferson National Accelerator Facility (JLab) and the Japanese laboratory KEK, besides the more recent theoretical developments. As usual, the “Guido Altarelli” prize \u2013one of the founding fathers of Quantum Chromodynamics, an outstanding communicator, and a mentor of new generation of scientists\u2013 will be awarded to junior researchers who have made outstanding theoretical or experimental contributions to the topics covered by the DIS.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
