About myself

I am full professor in Nuclear Physics at the University of Santiago de Compostela (USC) Spain, head of the Experimental Research Group on Particle and Nuclei (GENP) at the Galician Institute for High Energy Physics (IGFAE), Principal Investigator of the LaserPET experiment at the Laser Laboratory for Acceleration and Applications (L2A2), and co-funder of the INTERA S.L. spin-off.

My research interest focus on the understanding of the atomic nucleus and its implications in astrophysical processes, and societal applications. More recently, I initiated a new research line on laser-plasma acceleration to investigate the possibility of using this technology for the production of medical radioisotopes.

I am co-author of 227 refereed ISI publications (h-index 46), principal investigator of 15 national and international competitive funding grants (~7,8 M€), supervisor of 12 defended PhD works (3 more in progress), and presenter of 72 oral contributions to international conferences or workshops (35 of them as invited speaker).

I lecture Nuclear Physics at the Physics grade and Nuclear Astrophysics at the Master degree on Physics, both at USC. I also collaborate in outreach activities, in particular regular conferences for secondary school students.
