as from the following mail of prof Livio Conti (University Uninettuno
Rome Italy), we have now a second candidacy for hosting RPC-2026. I am
happy to see this increasing interest of the particle physics scientific
community for our conference. As usual we will discuss the site choice
for RPC-2026 in a dedicated meeting in Santiago.

Dear Prof. Rinaldo and Prof. Iaselli,
I write to you on behalf of the "Uninettuno High-energy" research group,
that I have the honour to coordinate at the Uninettuno University in
Rome.
I am writing to you in order to present the candidacy of our Research
Group, on behalf of Uninettuno University, to host the organization of
the RPC workshop in Rome in September 2026.
I kindly ask you to formally submit our proposal to the International
Board of the RPC workshop, also in view of the next meeting in Santiago,
for a preliminary discussion and the need evaluation.
Let me briefly summarize some information about Uninettuno University
and our research group.
The Uninettuno University headquarter is located in the centre of Rome,
the building overlooks the “Largo di Torre Argentina” square, where
Julius Caesar is believed dead, less than 1 km far from the Coliseum.
Uninettuno also has about 40 Technological Poles all around Italy and we
carry exams in more than 50 centres around the world. Uninettuno hosts 5
Faculties and enrols approximately 23.000 students, from 164 different
countries. We offer more than 70 different study programs (including
undergraduate, graduate, post lauream masters and PhD/doctorate
courses).
The “Uninettuno High-Energy” Research Group includes 2 full
professors, 6 associate professors, 4 researchers, 4 PhD students, 10
graduate students and 15 undergraduate students. My Colleagues have a
long tradition in development and building of particle detectors for
experiments at accelerators at CERN and Tevatron, as well as for cosmic
rays’ detection carried out on ground, on stratospheric balloons and
on satellite. Between these detectors we have also contributed in
developing several experiments based on RPC mainly conceived for muons
detection. At present the physicists of our Group are members and
actively participating to several collaboration such as:
* satellite missions CSES-01 (in orbit since 2018) and -02 (launch
scheduled by the end of 2024) for observations of particle and
electromagnetic fields in near-Earth geomagnetic cavity on Low Earth
Orbit. On each CSES satellite is installed a particle detector (named
HEPD-01 and -02 respectively) able to measure charged particles such as
Van Allen trapped particles and cosmic rays; count events generated in
the calorimeters by GRB emissions; TLE and TGF phenomena; etc.;
* JEM-EUSO program, which includes several pathfinder missions such as
EUSO-TA at Telescope Array (Utha, US), EUSO-SPB and EUSO-SPB2 on
balloon, MINI-EUSO on the International Space Station, etc. These
experiments have been conceived to detect ultra-high energy cosmic rays
as well as ultraviolet terrestrial emissions, TLE, TGF, etc.;
* DUNE experiment at Fermilab. We just started participating in the
Italian collaboration to DUNE experiment aimed at studying neutrino
oscillations and CP violation.
* SWGO, LAGO collaboration, muon tomography and other ground based
experiments built with RPC for cosmic rays’ observation.
A plus of having the RPC conference in Uninettuno could be:
* to have an international meeting exactly in the centre of Rome, fully
reachable by metro, busses and taxi in the stenographic contest of Roman
Forum. We have a fully equipped conference room that could well fulfil
all the needs of venue and logistics. The centre of Rome is full of
hotels and B&B with a large range of good prices. The participants to
the conference could easily find a good room with acceptable prices
nearer that 100 m from the Uninettuno headquarter and conference hall.
* In case the International Board would be interested, we could also
provide for free to broadcast the RPC conference (or some sessions or
starting/closing events) live on the Internet with the needed
restrictions (if any) or even fully open (if appropriate) to colleagues
by remote or interested guests.
* to organize the conference in Uninettuno would take advantage of
allowing a large participation of the colleagues of the numerous
community of researchers from other Universities of Rome, research
Institutes and Laboratories involved in RPC researches that could
contribute to a large and fruitful scientific debate on the related
experiments for a good success of the conference.
It would be useful for Group and University to have few information
about the organisation of previous RPC meetings and the needs for the
planned event such as:
* the mean numbers of participants that have attended to the RPC
meeting in last years;
* the requirements (space and network connectivity) of the meeting room
where the RPC workshop could be hosted;
* the range/suggested value of the fees;
* the structure / sessions you can suggest for the program of the
event.
On the basis of the suggestion and requests of the International Board
for the RPC workshop we can write a detailed proposal to be evaluated by
the Board.
