minutes of the IAC/IOC meeting
by Diego Gonzalez Diaz
Dear colleagues,
thanks for the meeting today. Several things have been discussed and
approved:
1) Contact session conveners (electronics, simulation/physics,
materials/gases, BHEP) with copy
to the IOC and IAC chairs, asking them to energize these topics and/or
submit a contribution and/or convene
the session.
2) To award a maximum of 5 invited talks (one of which is missing). /And
please consider that Silvia Dalla Torre
has not been invited yet, and we should rather proceed quickly here
(Rinaldo, Pino, will you do it?)./
3) Look for improved sponsorship level (R. Guida).
4) In relation to this, try to improve the prospects for student
sponsorship, including accommodation in youth
hostels and/or at the University Campus. (nota bene: a re-assessment of
the financial situation is pending and
will take place next week).
all the best
Diego

minutes on today's meeting
by RPC2024
Dear all,
thanks for the fruitful (and short :)) meeting. I summarize the situation
below as well as I could. Please add comments/remarks before next Tuesday
at 18:00, and meet you there for polishing the last details and get going:

all the best!

Meeting about Invited talks to RPC2024 (attendants from IAC, IOC, LOC).
Minutes:
1. Four invited talks were agreed on (titles are approximate - please
provide feedback):
- Paulo Fonte, LIP (on the celebration of the 25 years after the
invention of the tRPC technology: past, present and future) ->Remote.
- Rinaldo Santonico, Rome (the RPC technology).
- Eraldo Oliveri, CERN (DRD1 looking into the future… MPGDs vs RPCs:
overlaps, challenges, opportunities)
- Silvia Dalla Torre, INFN-Trieste (the future of fast gaseous detectors).
The possibility of merging Paulo’s and Rinaldo’s talk into a single one
was considered, as an alternative, depending on the authors criterium.
The possibility of an invited talk for Vladimir Peskov (on discharges)
and another one for Alberto Blanco (applications beyond HEP) was strongly
considered, but there was no unanimity at this stage.
2. In view of the limited number of contributions submitted, several
actions were proposed:
- Encourage prospective contributors to submit as soon as possible, in
particular big collaborations (deadline is July 1st).
- Identify relevant topical R&D areas, as well as identifying conveners
that could energize the community and with the intention
to create dedicated sessions and, depending on the feedback received,
consider the creation of a session and/or propose
an invited talk. The identified areas were:
* Discharges: Vladimir Peskov / Piotr Gasik
* BHEP: Alberto Blanco /Imad Laktineh(DRD1)
* Materials: Carlos Pecharromán, D. Piccolo(DRD1), A.
Pastore(DRD1). (note: there are several contributions on eco-gases,
we should probably ask them to address this anyhow)
* Simulations: P. Verwilligen(DRD1), M. Abbrescia.
* Electronics: M. Gouzevitch(DRD1), R. Cardarelli
The suggestion of the IAC/IOC was to reach to this people (other can be
proposed/added, ideally involving IAC/IOC members), and asking
them try to cover the corresponding topical areas.
3. In regard to the status of submissions, two things were mentioned:
* From the LOC: by the first week of July it will be made available
the list with all contributions as well as proposal for
acceptance/rejection/merging, for the IAC/IOC to assess.
* The IOC manifested interest on assessing the adequacy of the
currently submitted contributions.
3. Action items.
- Evaluate this proposal and comment, before Tuesday 18th, 18:00.
- An IOC/IAC meeting will be scheduled on that date, and decisions taken.

Dear Diego,
dear all,
here is the link for the doodle

I tried to offer time slots in the morning and
in the late afternoon, but we can modify if necessary.
Thank you very much
best regards
Barbara
Rinaldo asked me to make it, just because he couldn't do that technically.
