Abstract withdrawal
by Piotr Korcyl
Dear Convener,
I would like to apologize as I will not be able to travel to Santiago and present my contribution. Also my co-authors will not be able to travel and attend the conference. Therefore I would like to kindly ask you to withdraw my abstract. I am really sorry to the trouble I am causing.

by Ming Li
Dear WG2 Conveners,
Thank you for giving me the opportunity to present our recent research. Unfortunately I will not be able to attend the DIS2022 conference in person due to complications related to visa issues. So either there is the possibility that there is an online option for me to present the talk online
Or the talk will be presented by Prof. Alex Kovner, who will attend the conference in person. Furthermore, Alex told me that he will only be able to present the talk on Thursday (May 5) as his arrival flight is Wednesday morning (May 4). Please let me know your decisions.
Thank you,
Ming Li

Fwd: [Indico] Abstract Acceptance notification (#117)
by Martin Hentschinski
Dear All:
Unfortunately I need to withdraw my abstract which I submitted to WG2 at
DIS 2022. As already spelled out in a previous email to some of you, for me
it is currently difficult to travel to Spain to attend DIS in person. I
also have no collaborator who could travel there on my behalf.
While I accept that I probably don't fall into the groups
- institutions or countries do not allow the travel,
- because they do not comply with the COVID-related requirements to enter
Spain,
- or because of medical reasons
I would like to express my disappointment that there is not a larger degree
of flexibility from the side of the organizers (or International Advisory
Committee) to accommodate scientists for whom travel is still a challenge
but who - strictly speaking - do not fall into one of the above mentioned
categories.
While local regulations probably allow me to travel to Spain and to attend
the event, I live in a country where I do not have access at the same
degree as inhabitants of the European Union and the US to vaccines and
booster shots, not speaking of choosing a vaccine which I consider to
provide optimal protection. Since I am a German national and some of the
vaccines I received are accepted within the EU (some aren't, some would not
allow me to enter a restaurant without test in Germany right now etc.), I
most likely can enter Spain within the current regulations (also since
restrictions are slowly fading out). Nevertheless I am concerned about my
own health in a pandemic which in my opinion is slowly finishing, but not
yet over and I don't want to attend an event with more than 200 attendees
at this stage.
At the same time I am frustrated that there exists tailored exceptions for
scientists from DOE institutions, which to the best of my knowledge are the
above mentioned "institutions or countries do not allow the travel". I
believe that this discriminatory, since many of us face adversary
conditions in our work and in our ability to travel and present our work,
not only scientists from those institutions. In particular many scientists
in developing countries are limited in their ability to attend congresses
and workshops due to vaccines received, availability of travel funds (does
not apply to me, I actually have funds right now) and teaching obligations
at their home institutions. Nevertheless, exceptions are only given to
scientists at more privileged institutions which explicitly forbid
traveling. It would be nice if future editions of DIS could chose a more
inclusive approach and either allow online presentations for everybody or
to pursue a strict in person approach with no exceptions at the very least.
I hope I don't have to mention that a strict "in person" always excludes a
certain number of potential participants.
I understand that this decision was not taken by the local organizers and
in particular not by the conveners of the working group WG2. Indeed I would
like to thank you for all your efforts in the organization of this event
which I appreciate a lot and which for sure is not an easy task these days.
Nevertheless I would like to express my frustration to you and ask you to
please pass on this message to the appropriate committees in particular the
International Advisory Committee.
Best regards,
Martin

Hi,
Thanks for accepting my talk. However, my US visa will expire at May 2 and I will not be able to travel.
Is there an online platform for people who can’t travel?

Dear WG2 convenors,
Thank you for accepting this ZEUS Collaboration parallel talk. The talk will be given by Grzegorz Grzelak (University of Warsaw), who is in cc, and performed the analysis. Can you please update this and also send confirmation that Grzegorz is now the speaker ? He needs some confirmation note/letter to get funding.
Thanks,
Matthew.
