Hi Tom,
Thank you for the update. I appreciate the effort. I also understand that
this is not a promise. Sure, I can hold off for a few days. Though of
course, early is better since flights and accommodations are creeping up in
price.
Best for now,
Richard

Dear Richard,
Sorry for the delay on getting back to you on this, I was waiting until I
had something completely resolved to update you. In any case the current
situation is as follows.
We have managed to obtain space for an additional session joint with WG6
(Future experiments), this is not yet 100% confirmed hence the delay on our
side, but your talk would be one that would go in this session as it would
fit naturally. Therefore, it is looking likely we will have space for your
talk, but this is currently waiting on approval from WG6 and the
organisers. Would it be possible therefore to delay for a few more days
whilst this is sorted out? We are pushing on our side to resolve this
urgently too in order to provide you and others with clarity. Apologies
again for the delay and complications with abstract acceptance, many of
these decisions are out of our control and/or waiting for others to respond
to obtain the confirmation.
Note the early registration deadline is now moved to 8th April so perhaps
this helps. Please let us know your thoughts.
Best,
Tom

notification (#62)
Dear Tom,
Greetings.
Sorry to trouble you. I just wanted confirm that the status remains
unchanged, i.e., that I remain on the short list for a talk. If that is the
case, I respectfully with to withdraw my abstract submission.
Best,
Richard

Dear Tom,
Thank you for the detailed reply. Certainly, there is no need to apologize
for the complications. These things happen.
In short, sure, I would be interested in being a backup choice but I would
essentially have to know by Monday in order to finalize travel, etc. I do
not anticipate attending the meeting in person if there is not a talk.
(Unfortunately, my travel budget is not unlimited.) I hope you can
understand the situation.
Best,
Richard

Dear Richard Ruiz,
Thank you for your prompt email, indeed there are a very large number of
abstracts submitted to our WG and given the upcoming early registration
deadline we wished to provide some indication of the current status of all
the talks submitted. Given the very large number of submissions, as it
stands therefore your abstract has been accepted as a poster. However, we
wanted to contact you as the situation regarding abstracts is not yet 100%
clear given the complications of covid and in person attendance and also
the potential of an additional joint session which is not yet determined,
as a result we currently have assigned your talk as one of a few backup
talks and there is therefore a possibility you may ultimately be able to
give a talk in person. Nonetheless we understand if you wish not to be
considered as a backup talk, therefore please let us know if you wish to be
considered for this or not and apologies for the complications.
Many thanks,
Tom Cridge (for WG1 conveners)

⚠ Caution: External sender
Dear WG1 Organizers,
Thank you for the acceptance of my abstract for a poster presentation.
Unfortunately, I requested a parallel talk. Of course, I understand that
not all talks can be accepted. That said, if my request for a parallel talk
cannot be honored, then I respectfully and regretfully wish to withdraw my
abstract. Please let me know how you wish to proceed.
Best wishes,
Richard Ruiz
