Numerical Relativity and Holography

27 June - 1 July 2016
Santiago de Compostela, Spain

1 2 3

The AdS/CFT correspondence has built a bridge between problems from the Quantum world and methods from General Relativity. In the fully non-linear regime the use of numerical methods is instrumental. Implementing techniques coming from Numerical Relativity is desirable but not straightforward since AdS has its own difficulties. Two years after the success of the CERN-CKC Institute on Numerical Holography, it is time to upgrade and share the latest achievements in the field. We will talk about the physics, the maths and the methods. We hope this conference will also be of help for groups giving their first steps in the use of numerical tools.

Topics
Initial and boundary value problems in AdS, time dependent processes and phase transitions, inhomogeneous solutions, stripped phases, numerical methods for AdS, stability and turbulence.

Venue
The meeting will take place in the Hospedería del Monasterio de San Martín Pinario, a massive baroque building next to the Cathedral, at the heart of the city. Accommodation at the venue is possible, although limited. Several options exist in the close vicinity. The surroundings are those of the old town of Santiago, one of the pearls of the Middle Ages in Europe. In June the city receives the visit of many tourists and pilgrims. There is a nice atmosphere on the streets and the nights are full of cultural offers. Food and surroundings are also very much appreciated.
