08 Dec IGFAE researcher to coordinate the final measurements of Bs-Bs oscilation
Dr Veronika Chobanova, a member of the IGFAE, has just been chosen by the CERN’s LHCb collaboration to coordinate, until March 2020, the analyses studying the transformation properties (usually called ‘oscillations’) of the ‘ Bs’ mesons in ‘anti-Bs’. Bs is a type of particle whose transformation in its antiparticle is the object of study of LHCb. Studying these oscillations is crucial to shed light on the nature of particles at the most fundamental level. LHCb is an international collaboration that brings together more than 700 scientists at CERN, and in which several IGFAE members participate actively.
After completing her doctoral thesis at the Max-Planck-Institut für Physik in Munich, Dr Chobanova joined the IGFAE in 2015 through the Starting Grant project that the European Research Council awarded to Dr Diego Martinez Santos.
