LHCb probes physics beyond the Standard Model through tests of lepton universality

02 May LHCb probes physics beyond the Standard Model through tests of lepton universality

The LHCb Collaboration at the LHC at CERN has found, in an analysis in which members of IGFAE have participated, an apparent departure of lepton universality in the branching ratio for the decays of B mesons to an excited kaon and a pair of electrons or muons. With the Standard Model predicting lepton universality to be fulfilled, this could be a hint of physics beyond the Standard Model. More information can be found through this link.
