DESCRIPTION

Neutron-rich isotope production in 238U+Be collisions

The aim of this experiment is to explore the production of neutron-rich isotopes in cold-fragmentation reactions induced by a 238U beam at 1 A GeV on a Be target.

FRS calibration

1. Reference setting RUN94_E: beam centered from SIS to S4 with the 60 mg/cm2 Nb foil

  • Check that the beam is centered at the target with the current grids
  • Check that the beam is centered at S1, S2, S3 and S4

2.   Center at S2 with the 1023 mg/cm2 Be target and at S4 with the Sc2

4. Set electronics

5. Dispersion calibration: scale the setting by 0.5% and 1%

6. Targets and degraders calibration: ToF calibration

  • 2615 mg/cm2 Be, Sc2, 4.3  g/cm2 degrader and 108 mg/cm2 Nb
  • 2615 mg/cm2 Be, Sc2, 4.55 g/cm2 degrader and 108 mg/cm2 Nb
  • 2615 mg/cm2 Be, Sc2, 4.92 g/cm2 degrader and 108 mg/cm2 Nb
