This experiment is a part of an experimental campaign dedicated to high-precision measurements of spallation residue production. In this experiment, energy dependence of the total fission cross section in the reaction 181Ta+1H will be measured. The accuracy aimed to is below 10 %. The energy dependence is very important due to the energy loss of the proton beam in the spallation neutron source and due to the importance of secondary reactions initiated by particles emitted in the primary reactions. Together with previously measured data in 208Pb+1H and 238U+1H (see here), these new data will allow a study on mass dependence of the spallation-fission process. They will also be mandatory, due to high accuracy, for benchmarking of theoretical models. This work is supported by the European Community under the FP6 Integrated Project EUROTRANS Contract no. How to start the RISING MBS system from scratch:
'help -mbs' on LynxOX - or MBS prompt lists all MBS commands
Examples:
'help start -mbs' ----- lists all commands with keyword start
'help start ev -mbs' ----- show syntax of the command 'start event_serv'
MBS commands have at least 1, but up to 3 keywords and optionally a list of parameters and flags.
If not all keywords of a command are specified in the help call, a list of commands containing these keywords are displayed.
Generally keywords can be abbreviated until they are unambiguous
VME processors: R3-8 (FRS), R3-27 (TPC), R3-9 (DGFs), R3-25 (TIME), R3-21 (silicon), R3-19 (USER).

data logging with RFIO
lxfs32 is the RFIO server prepared for RISING. The RAID5 disk systems connected and mounted on: /data_rising02
The NFS exported directories are: /data_rising02/rising02
and they are mounted as: /d/rising02
The experiment uses: /d/rising02/jul_08/directory which contain calib, test and data subdirectories. Please avoid creating subdirectories if not needed.
The RFIO implementation at GSI requires to open the file with full path(archive) name, and the path and the name of the file must together be not longer than 43 characters. Since the mount points are already quite long, the following logic links have been created on lxfs32: /rida02 -> /data_rising02/rising02
on lxfs32: (upper right window on desktop 2)
on the MBS, node name: x86-XX (8, 20..):

In case Go4 cannot connect to MBS
One possibility is that the remote server is not running ('ps -u rising | grep serv' to check) and reconnection is refused (Message:'-E rconnect (connect) Connection refused'). In such case, try to relaunch the DAQ:
